THE NEXT RIGHT THING
The drug and alcohol epidemic has affected countless lives, both personally and professionally. So, what’s the next right thing?
When Chris faced the challenger of helping her son get into recovery, and accessing the resources he needed to thrive, she discovered a broken system that failed those who needed it most. Determined to make a difference, she opened up her home, to provide assistance and a safe place for those in need. Chris guided individuals toward detox and recovery programs, residential sobriety programs, and finding temporary support and resources until something more permanent could be found.
Along this journey, Chris connected with other mothers who shared her struggles and frustration with a system designed to process rather than support. Together, they formed Moms for Recovery, a group born from the desire for change. What began as a gathering of about twenty moms—some grieving losses and others still fighting for their loved ones—has grown to over 130 members strong.
Today, these courageous moms share their stories to challenge stigmas, advocate for systemic change, and promote reform in the court system and beyond. They work tirelessly with state and federal leaders, turning loss into purpose and hope into action.
There is still so much work to do. By hearing the stories of those we’ve lost, we can find a way to fight harder for those who are still here.
